Blue Ridge Parkway : America's Favorite Drive

My daughter just got her first car. Just like any over-eager teen looking for a joyride, she immediately planned an outing with her friends for the weekend. Being the first of her friends to enjoy the freedom of having her own car, she asked me where I thought I should bring them. Being natives of North Carolina, I suggested that they not drive too far for this right of summer driving passage. Blue Ridge Parkway was just a few minutes away after all. Running for 469 miles along the Blue Ridge mountain chain and Appalachian Mountains, it was buil to connect Shenandoah National Park to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Although not generally a national park, it is instead a National Scenic Byway and All American Road, making it the most visited park of the United States National Park System with its land protected by the United States Forest Service. The best time of the year to drive through here would be around early Spring when the warm weather and long days allow tourists to see early wildflowers, mayapple, or a blooming serviceberry tree in the forest. The best part of our trip? Stopping for a meal at one of the many restaurants scattered along the parkway. Needless to say, I gave my daughter such a vivid description of the good times I had on the trip that she opted to take the same route that I did during my time.
This corner of nature has already become a topic for mla research papers and research papers writing.
